Menard Guerrero and Popoy Colinares are ready for their next chapters.
The two standout collegiate players have officially signed with Criss Cross in the Spikers’ Turf, strengthening an already talent-laden roster as the King Crunchers gear up for a deeper run in the men's volleyball circuit.
Guerrero, formerly of De La Salle University, is set to reinforce Criss Cross’ libero corps, where he will team up with four-time Spikers’ Turf Best Libero Manuel Sumanguid and John Philip Pepito. The 23-year-old defensive ace brings with him an impressive résumé — two Best Libero awards from the UAAP and three more from his high school stint at National University-Nazareth School.
Despite still having two years of eligibility left, Guerrero bid an emotional farewell to the Green Spikers, taking to Instagram to reflect on his collegiate journey.
“Forever grateful, DLSU,” Guerrero wrote. “As I close this unforgettable chapter, my heart is full—of memories, of lessons, and of love. Thank you for shaping me, challenging me, and giving me a home for the past few years. It’s not goodbye, it’s see you later. Animo forever.”
Guerrero will also reunite with former DLSU teammate Noel Kampton, further solidifying the Green Spiker-to-King Cruncher pipeline.
Meanwhile, University of Santo Tomas standout Popoy Colinares is also joining the Crunchers after a breakout campaign in UAAP Season 87.
The 6-foot-2 middle blocker made waves with his all-around presence at the net, finishing second in blocks with 33 and third in service aces with 17. He tallied 146 total points during the elimination round, placing 15th overall in league scoring.
Colinares’ efforts were recognized with a Best Middle Blocker citation at season’s end, capping off what would be his final year with UST, despite still being eligible for two more seasons.
“Grateful for every moment of my last ride. Thank you, UST,” wrote Colinares in his own Instagram send-off.
With the addition of Colinares, Criss Cross further strengthens its already formidable middle blocker unit, joining the ranks of Kim Malabunga, Gian Glorioso, Rex Intal, and Chu Njigha — all veterans of both local and international play.
